whatcha wanaka do?

Its 3/04/05, friday in Wanaka, New Zealand. ITs about an hour or so away from Queenstown, the adventure city of NZ. Tessa and i are thinking/planning on doing skydiving tomorrow... Until i actually pay and get on the plane, its all too surreal for me to fathom. I'll let you know how i do... *eeeee*
After Nelson, Tessa and i drove onto Greymouth. It was a beautiful and LONG drive from the north part of the island to the west coast. We stopped breify to make a sandwich and i was attacked by these nasty little buggers called sandflies. They were all over the north (understandably, we stayed near the coast where there's sand) but on our drive through fantastic mountian range i thought we were safe. I couldn't stand another minute standing still so a dragged Tessa in the car and we were off again. I thought the speed of the wind in the car would flush them out but no... As i was driving a winding road, i look down to see 5 on my foot!! Oye! Now a few days later, i have these marks that are slowly going away... (breathe)
On a completely different subject... After a night in Greymouth, we went to Franz Joesef, the site of one of many accessible glaciers on the south island. As we were setting up camp, Lisa and Jim come sneaking around our tent! It was SUCH a nice surprise to see them! They decided to stay for a couple of nights so we had some time to hang out! After a night of catching up and drinking boxes of wine, we all woke up a little hungover. Tessa and another friend ventured up to the top of the mountain to see the glacier from the top. Lisa, Jim and I decided to see the glacier from the bottom. Its so impressive! When we finally arrived at the face of the ice, the hight was at LEAST six for seven stories high. Once or twice we saw ice falling away. The walk up to the ice was beautiful as well. You could see the scrapes of the glacier on the rocks from when the glacier was lower on the mountian.
After Lisa and Jim said their "see ya's", we traveled on south to Wanaka. Before settled in, we stopped by Puzzleing World. I felt like a five year old... (happy birthday elyse) Now we're here... just bummin' around and psyching ourselves up for jumping out of a plane tomorrow... Wish me luck!! *Smile*

Hey Anne,

I took the plunge a few years ago. I won't lie to you, it was nerve racking and surreal...Especially taking that first step outside of the plane...But it all happened so fast and soon it was a gentle fall and an unbelievable feeling of confidence.

Hi, Can you read these comments. I am saving all of your adventures so you can re-live them when you come home. I sent you a "care PACKAGE yesterday 3/6. It should come in a week. Elyse had a great birthday party with 12 little princess. They were all dressed up to be princesses. Real cute. Peggy announced she is having another Easter egg hunt in their yard. Remember last year when the Easter Bunny was hitting on you! Hope you do the sky diving. Enjoy! love & peace MOM

What a lovely time you seem to be having. How lucky of me to have found this site to hear (read) of your travels. My friends are currently dipping themselves into this world too by traveling abroad and just breathing in all of her beauty. I do hope to meet up with them soon. They will be traveling thru NZ soon and loving every bit of it. That's where I hope to meet up with them. I just hope I don't run into obnoxious american tourists with their cameras and their egos painted on their sleeve for the whole world to see. I am an american, but I try to distance myself from the one's who act this way. It would be so lovely if we would meet up with people such as yourself and your friends who you are traveling with.
Traveling is like opening up your heart to a stranger; but a stranger who loves you. My friend Kala gave me this advice and it has helped me every day of my life on this beautiful world.

Keep with your travels, the world is just waiting for you to indulge in her beauty. Be one with her...love her.

Oh my goodness. Donna? How can it be that i've found you on Anne's travel logue? For all of you who aren't aware, I am one of Donna's friends who happens to be traveling through and taking in all that is New Zealand. It is just the most wonderful place to lay my head at night. Before I got here, I could not even fathom how great one place could make me feel. It is almost like bathing in a milk bath of happiness and washing my face with a cloud of cotton. And girls, my tan is something of another world. It is surreal to look at myself in the mirror and drink in my wholeness, my beauty, my aura. I have been looking and looking for Anne for this entire trip. You see, we met years ago at a wine tasting and honestly I have never felt such an attraction for another human being. To me, it felt like we were two beautiful trees swaying in the wind, all alone and carefree. (until the next morning when I was really hugging the bowl) Wink, wink. Anne, if you are reading this, i need to see you. I am heading for Auckland on Saturday...Is there any way you could meet me at the Soljans Estate Winery on Sunday at 1pm? I want to relive our past and start a new and unfathomable future. Your lips were like rose petals

Splendid day!!!
Sharon, I am so excited to meet up with you on your travel. I would love oh so much to see you and Gabriel in NZ. I love how Gabriel always comments "the wind will move me where my mother needs me"; I wrote that down on a diary that I have been recording all of my thoughts and love towards both of you and this world.
I do believe you are mistaking this Anne for Anne Swenson (or as we call her "Miss Bliss"). I accidently stumbled upon this site when looking for fellow free spirits who are yearning to drink in this beautiful world.
Last night I re-read the poem you wrote for myself, Sarah, Belinda and Feather (the poem "loves way to the heart"). I could not stop crying, I have never felt more one with this world and humanity than I did last night.
Your imagery with the cloud of cotton in your post was beautiful. I am going to write that in my diary and hold it so close to my heart so that your words seep through the pages, through the cover and into my soul and imbue my essence with the love that the earth and universe has imparted on your soul.

Bless
