No Monday for me!

January 25th, 2005
Here I am!! I arrived in the dark, just short of 5am in Nadi. The humidy welcomed me off the plane. After bypassing a shifty travel agent, I was able to find a decent hostel for the evening, Horizon Beach Hostel. I met a friend, Enthea, on the flight. Along with her, there are MANY people at this hostel, even a guy from Milwaukee... Imagine that?! *Smile* The air is Lush and heavy. Its easily 90 degrees today. Alittle overcast but HUMID. I'm planning on staying here for one more night and then hitting another island. I heard there's over 800 islands in Fiji... one down. *Smile*

After chilling at the hostel and getting my stuff settled in, I took a local bus with some hostelers to downtown Nadi. THe bus had only the windshield, letting all the fragrant, warm breeze blow through. Its a nice informal tour of the area. There's so many different types of trees and flowers. Some being hybiscus, vibrant red and pale yellow, along with white plumeria trees (my favorite). Nadi has a big Indian population which means cheap goooooood food. OH! and its mango, papaya, and guava season! woohoo! I stumbled across the market and was able to get some for a really decent price. ITs Enthea's birthday today so we're going to bring some fun stuff back to the hostel for dinner.

I'm happy to hear you have been able to develop a fun atmosphere in Fiji. Enjoy the warmth, and the fresh fruit, and the company of friends. :)

Anne,

Your travels sound wonderful. I'm watching Elyse and Nicole playing candyland. Emma is napping and Peggy is at a baby shower. I had to tell you this story. Elyse and her friend Gracie went through the snow into the woods yesterday. Peggy found them 3 houses down. When we asked what they were doing so far away from home they looked up and said they were following rudolph's tracks to the north pole and they were almost there.

Be good to yourself.

Love Mark & Peggy

Hi Sweety,
Waiting for some new news from you. While your walking in the warm sand, we are shoveling more snow.
Sat. Jan. 29, we accepted an offer for the house. Only $4,000 less than we had asked. But they have to sell their house by March 31. If someone ilse comes up with a better offer, we can take it. So this weekend we are seriously looking for an apt.
Sunday we celebrated Emma's bd. It is so much fun seeing her inact with everyone, she is so even tempered.
Dad is still driving up to Appleton every other day with contractor plans. Will talk later. LOVE & Peace, MOM
