I'm leaving Anyuan on a high note....the ear-piercing one that Whitney sings in I Will Always Love You no less. What better way to exit a town than to do it singing karaoke. I love the jazzed up versions of English songs sung by Chinese superstars- IWALY is sung by a fat Chinese woman who looks like the Oriental equivalent of Elton John.

I recieved quite possibly my most patronizing comment yesterday. Vicky, one of the many deputy heads of the school, deigned to tell me that 'Ni hao means hello'. I've been in China for 5 months, how could she think I didn't know that! She seems to be rubbing in the fact that the school refused to give me Chinese lessons...

I feel like it's the right time to move on from here, I'm going to miss this place, but not so much that I don't want to leave. I'm feeling the pull of the road. It's going to be strange to readapt to regular society though, and realise that it's not normal to use the words beautiful and delicious so much.
