More Aussies?
Somewhere in Salzburg….
So I went out with my new Australian friends. It was meant to be a low key night but when we met some locals at our first bar we decided to hop along for a classic pub crawl. And where do we end up? A bar with a live band playing everything from Sweet Caroline to Brown Eyed Girl. You better believe we danced, sang, and drank all night. And to top it off, Austrian hot dogs at 3am. Yum!
I begrudgingly awake the next morning to catch a train to Innsbruck. I must admit, I was a bit nervous as Rick Steve’s has nothing to say about Innsbruck so I was clueless as what to see and what to do. All I knew is that it was a small ski town. At the information booth I was informed the hostel I booked would not open until 5am. Screw that! I had a nearly 20 pound backpack and it was only 10am. So after one suggestion, I was on my way to the Nepomuk’s hostel that sits on top of a local cafe. As I entered the cafe filled with delectable treats, I met the lady behind the counter who I ended up chatting with for over an hour. Finally, my room was ready. As I entered the room, there stood 3 boys. At the YoHo it was single sex dorms; not here. Found myself a little intimated by the 21 year old Australians. The room not only had a huge table with couches but also a kitchen stocked with free food, towels, sheets, shampoos, a hairdryer….it was decked out. Sweet place for only 21Euros a night. After a quick shower I headed into town. Need I mention it was another glorious day of sunshine. I was using Innsbruck as a relaxation day to re-coop from the non-stop tourist attractions. As I lazily strolled the streets I eventually made my way up the Gondola to the top of the Nordkette Mountain. Beautiful view and plenty of skiers. Once arriving back to the hostel the Aussies were playing none other than Texas Hold’em, I quickly joined in. I watched as they took Jagger Bomb shots one after another but after the previous night out, I was sticking to a few beers. We eventually made it out to the bars but ended by midnight as the 21 year old Aussies were out past their bed time.
