Catholics, don’t be jealous

Yesterday I was blessed by THE Pope! I arrived around 8:30 am for the 10:30 general audience and there was already a long line outside. Fortunately, I still ended up in the 3rd row once inside St. Peter’s Basilica. We all just sat there admiring the massive church with its religious paintings and larger than life sculptures. As the music began playing we all stood and looked back as if we were waiting for the Bride to walk down the isle. After about 10 minutes of the organ playing there he was, The Pope. I was actually crazy excited and it felt somewhat surreal. The last time I saw the Pope I was about 2 years old and with my entire family. As he stood there in front of us he said several prayers in Italian. And while he was only in front of us for roughly 15 minutes and I did not understand a word he said, it will remain a highlight of my trip and I am sure my entire life.

I was recommended a tour to go underground St. Peters to see the tombs of many Popes and of course, Saint Peter. It is considered a privilege to go down below 2 levels and booking well in advance is necessary. Two levels below lies an excavated Roman graveyard full of mausoleums, frescoes, inscriptions and stucco decorations.

And last night, my Australian girlfriends I met in Austria and I went out for dinner and drinks. Which turned into a night of dancing until 4am. FUN!
