After a 5 hour car ride back to the Dunkers home in Basel, I finished a few loads of laundry and got through 191 e-mails. Within an hour of being home, Don asked if I wanted to go to a type of home show to go taste some wines. I’m in! The home show was huge with several stories filled with everything from ovens to printers to cheese to wines. We made our way to a section of the wine floor where Don new a wine distributor from a previous wine show. We sat down and within 1 hour tasted roughly 23 wines (20 reds, 2 whites, and 1 champagne). I was a bit struck when Don quickly bought 25 bottles at an average price of $70 a bottle. He seems to do this often as he has over 400 bottles in his bomb shelter converted to wine cellar in the basement. Obviously, we were both a bit buzzed but proceeded to a few more stands of tastings before heading home.
As Lisa and Don headed to a party, the twins and I enjoyed the evening with a movie. And tonight, I’m off to Rome! I can’t wait for Italy and have very high expectations.
