Bed-Bugs, No Thanks
Thanks for all of the friends, family, and random blog readers for the comments and supportive e-mails. I’m already overwhelmed by the inspiring feedback.
I’ve yet to experience life in a hostel and I must admit, I’m actually excited about it. It may mean dorm style rooms with bunk beds and restless nights from people chatting or strolling in drunk, but what better way to meet other travelers. Some who may have great advice on a spot I must visit or new people to hit up an evening pub with. But like I said in the previous posts, finding a hostel with all of the desired services is overwhelming as often times there are so many to choose from, all with a few poor reviews. As long as clean sheets/towels are provided, the hostel is within the city center (or close to it), is walking distance from the train station, has luggage lockers, and there are NO bed bugs, I’m game. So I booked 2 hostels this weekend. My first is in Florence at Hostel Archi Rossi. Major bonus, the hostel provides free breakfast and FREE walking tours in English. As a budget traveler, hearing the word free gets me a little giddy. And the second, YoHo International Hostel in Salzburg, Austria. No breakfast or tours but fairly good reviews and walking distance to everything.

Hostels = lots and lots of fun.
Bed Bugs = serious pain in the ass.
I recommend getting a good sleep sheet if you dont have one….it will protect you. The silk ones are best, if you have time, you can get the best ones from NZ at http://www.jagbags.co.nz/
Good luck!
