Hi folks. Quick update.

I spent two glorious days in Vienna, Austria and experienced my first couch surfing stay. I want to stay on peoples couches everywhere I go now! Not only was the person I stayed with very respectful and humble but he lived in a central location, spent the evenings with me, and was helpful in me planning my days. Vienna seems to have a huge couch surfing network as they all hang out often and hold events for the travelers, or couch surfers as we call ourselves. There was an event planned the second night I was there for the Opera. Several of us, including hosts and couch surfers, met for pastries and then headed to the Opera followed by some drinks. The USA needs Carnival

After almost missing my train because it was marked Milano, I made it to Lucerne, another area of Switzerland. Upon my arrival I knew it would be a good day as all I could see were masses of people dressed up in wild costumes and all I could hear were lively bands. Carnival! And it was the last day of the 4 day event (I think it is 4 days), so I was in luck to get to experience such a unique, fun, colorful, and exciting event. Instead of following my map, I just followed the crowd into the city center. Hundreds and hundreds of people of all ages were dressed in some of the craziest costumes I have ever seen. They were all so elaborate and the best part, they make their own costume and masks. [read on]
