Dear friends,

here are some pictures of how the creche looked like to the present day. the builders came in yesterday and delivered all the building materials. hopefully they will complete their work very soon and i will still get to see the results with my own eyes and not only from photos…keeping my fingers crossed!

hier sind einige fotos vom kindergarten und wie der bis heute aussah. die arbeiter sind gestern gekommen und haben die ersten baumaterialien angeschleppt. ich hoffe, dass sie zügig vorankommen und ich das endergebnis mit eigenen augen sehen kann und nicht nur auf fotos…ich drück die daumen.

Countdown

  There is still so much i want to do and the time has bacome so little- it’s crazy. For a long time I was telling people that I didn’t know how long I was still staying but actually for a long time and so on…And now it’s all of the sudden come down to me having only 5 weeks left here…it’s insane. My mood about my leaving is changing about 10 times a day, from eternal sadness to overwhelming excitement. I have been in the land of mountains and snow for 2 weeks now. It feels like much longer and I miss South Africa a lot.
When I arrived, it was below zero and it was snowing all the time- which was nice. But the grey skies and the rain here make me sad and life here is so hectic compared to Africa. Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends and family,

i am very sad to announce my grandfather in switzerland has passed away yesterday morning. He was in hospital for 3 days after he had suffered a severe hemorrhage last saturday.
For this reason I am going to fly home on saturday to attend the funeral and be with my family and friends.
I will be back in South Africa on the 2nd of December if all goes well.

After being back from swaziland for almost 2 weeks I am getting back into the groove of everyday life more and more. Rainy season has started and we are getting quite a lot of rain. The weekend was beuatiful, i spent in on the beach just chilling. but just in time for monday morning it started raining again- bad timing beacuse it made me wanting to stay in bed the whole day.
because that was not possible by any means i decided to give myself a soft start and stay in the office today and send these vollies to school alone.
I realised that whenever i am there they are not really showing any initiative and i guess they don’t have a lot of confidence either with me watching them all the time. so i decided to send them off alone a bit more.

I am missing the steffis a lot though! they left a massive gap in my chintsa life. it was so nice to have these lovely girls around and now they just left. crazy how fast they were gone. they are not happy at home and we are in touch a lot. but still…i miss them.

In terms of health i am feeling a lot better now. i went to see the dermatologist again and he was happy with what he saw. i still need to use some creams and stuff but i am getting better here, touch wood.

Mike will get back from Turkey this week and then i will soon ahve to decide what will happen to me in the nearer future. i have the possibiliy to stay here and work for mike or buccaneers. i could as well go home by christmas or just leave chintsa and go travelling around southern africa.
i don’t really know what i want at present. the volunteers would be the main reason for me to stop working here, but then i don’t want to leave the schools and kids.
it’s confusing to decide all the time. i feel like everytime i take e decision another one is waiting for me already…hm. but i am not complaining…i am glad i can choose so freely.

This weekend i had visitors from back home. Peter and Marie- Claude came to see where i live and love :). it was fabulous to show them around the schools and my little paradise village. I think they enjoyed their stay here.

That’s the news for now. I am looking forward to these days of sunshine and warmth starting soon…please consider SA as your christmas holiday destination :)!

that’s very strange to say this, but the paradise place named chintsa has suddently become hard reality now. after beeing away for 10 days, this is my home i had to return to and my job, the kids in school and 10 new vollies were waiting for me. it was nice coming back and to see my buccs family again. but it’s no longer all perfect… Read the rest of this entry »
