all about Sophia

It is still very hard for Chinese young people to understand this movie or novel well. The story has passed many many years, and we don’t know what happened on earth at those special period. And also we were educated by the other aspects by the other movies. So today, although it is hot in China mainland movie market currently, I don’t think people who can really understand and what attract them are the stars and some so called porn. The mass media also focus on how long will it be deleted when it release in China mainland.

I haven’t got a chance to go to the cinema to watch this movie yet. I am waiting for some comments before I go. I read this novel many years ago. And the author of this novel—-Zhang ailing, who lived near Jing an temple, and she often came to our academy where at that time was a youth club for dancing with her husband. The story maybe happened there, or at least one scene happened there. The director Ang Lee’s group had come here for shooting. Now let me go back to this story again.

A unversity female student pretend to be a mistress of a traitor, so can get a chance to get close to him and kill him. But when she got a chance to finish her work, she found she can not do that because she had loved that man already. When the traitor knew his mistress was a killer, he killed her without any hesitation. That is the ending of this story. Today, most of the people will think this is a profound love story. It implies the subtle relationship between men and women. Without any doubt, the lady of the novel is smart, canny, courageous and of course pretty.

This morning an unexpected call from HK came to me. It was Leon.I was so surprised that why he called me in the morning,which should be his busy work time. At first he told me he was on the airplane, I was surprised again, when a person can make a call  on the airplane? And this was a long-distance call. I didn’t hear about that!! Leon corrected his words immediately,he said he was in the airport and waiting for the airplane. He would go to Singarpore for his next rotation. He is always like this!His words are always overstated. I doubt whether he does the same when he is working. He doesn’t pay much attention to the words he uses, will be ok for his work? Maybe I think more again.He said everything is ok for the work. What makes him worried is the friends,the schoolmates and the parents.

Leon has left home for about one year. Before, I don’t think he has a experience of leaving Beijing city for over one month. Although he often had exchange programme or go abroad for math competition or business trip, he would not be  outside for a long time.This time his first rotation in Hong Kong for almost one year, I have a strong feeling that he misses his home very much,but he wouldn’t say,he will tell me he is well. That is him. I know him. This is a Beijing boy.

Anyway,he called me this morning still made me happy the whole day. Normally he calls me in the evening. We talked and talked,and everytime is all in the rush. I hope everything is well when he arrives in Singapore. But my biggest hope is he can come to Shanghai for his next rotation,which should be next March. Time flies very fast,right?

People from different countries speak different languages, keep different value systems, and have different ways of looking things. Failure to recognize culture differences lies at the root of many everyday misunderstandings and irritations among people of different countries or races. Even in the same country, especially in China, so big country, the differences between south and north are huge.

The south people like to eat rice while north people like to eat noodles; the south people like to show something indirectly while the north people usually directly; the south people are more practicality while the north people pay more attention to “face”, etc. Sometimes listening a conversation between south people and north people is very interesting, if the two people are a couple, one is from south, and the other one is from north, it will be funny. The southern girl will feel northern boy too rude, no matter how kind the boy’s heart is. The northern boy always shows their kind from the true activities but not talking. But their action really looks a little rough. If they want to praise girlfriend smart, they will say: You are really bad. So the southern girl will feel it is true, she will cry. Then the boy will have to say sorry to her. But the northern girl will understand what does the “bad” mean, she will smile to the boy like a fox, and say to him: you are bad as well. So here comes a little bit Chinese humor. If a southern boy treats a northern girl very “well”, the northern girl will feel the southern boy is not like a man, which makes southern boy doesn’t know how to treat northern girlfriend. And northern girl will think southern boy has no his own opinion. So finally, people always get together with the people who are similar and have the same humor sense.

This time I’d like to introduce you my school—shanghai theatre academy. This academy is quite different from the other university in China. It is located in the heart of this city, and it has a very cute campus. Among Chinese university students, one typical sentence to describe how cute it is is: If you throw a coin from the front door, it can go out from the back door—-non-stop. Because most Chinese university have a very very big campus, and the locations are normally in suburban areas.

But many foreign drama experts come to our school, they always say: The academy is so big, in my country, drama school only has one building, that is all. But our school has one big building as students’ dormitory , and one red building as a main teaching place, and also have 5 theatres in either teaching building or it is an individual theatre. The performance will be performed in those theatres, it depends on which type of those drama are, so they can decide whether they will play in a small theatre or experimental theatre or even “black box”.
