Surin Islands

paradise

Pete Writes: After receiving a tip off from a fellow diver (who I met in Koh Tao), we headed off to the Surin Islands. The journey there was a bit of effort, probably because I rolled in 30 mins before the taxi picked us up at 6:45 am (it was the last night in Samui with everyone).

The Surin Islands comprise of 5 islands just south of Burma. There are no roads, houses and limited electricity. Our accommodation comprised of a tent, sleeping mat and pillow set just back from the beach with turquoise waters lapping against the white sand. We spent 3 days snorkeling and diving amongst the best coral I have ever seen! and the amount of different fish were unbelievable. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last few days, and would highly recommend Surin to anyone who wants to get back to basics.

Chloe Writes: PARIDISE! There’s not a lot else to say about the Surin islands. The water is a gorgeous light blue, the sand is white and soft and not a tuk tuk in sight. Although with only one restaurant (canteen stile), there wasn’t the greatest choice of food. But nobody is there for the food, the coral we saw when we went snorkeling was mostly live (although the tsunami did kill some off), and comprised of the most beautiful colors. The variety of fish was also the best I had ever seen.

And so after 2 days in paradise it was back to Bangkok and back to reality!

    Hi Rupert,

I could of gone mad, had i stayed a couple of weeks. Could of stayed another day or so, Pete said he could of stayed another month!

Were thinking of publishing a book of photos when we get back entitled ’sunsets and boats’ - god knows we have enough of them.

    Lots of love,

    Chloe x

    Hi Paulette,

Thanks for showing the photos to Nanny Cann, maybe we will see her in Mexico for some tequila :o).

haha… I can relate to that! Between us we could probably do several editions of Sunsets & Boats. After the first hundred, you have to start getting creative… add a tree, or a falling leaf… perhaps a a hammock? Oh god… not another hammock with a sunset backdrop…heehee ;o)
