Goa - Palolem Beach

Palolem Beach

Pete Writes: After 7 weeks of cities, buses, trains, trekking and general go go go we decided it was time to set anchor and chill at the beach for a while. I think we have achieved our goal quite nicely. Palolem is one of the most southerly beaches in Goa with stretching golden sands lined with coconut trees and crashing waves. Needless to say I have mostly been wave surfing (lots of fun), swimming and trying to do England proud with my dubious football skills :o We have also found a nice little English pub where you can watch DVDs and get a Sunday roast. It has been a little sanctuary during the hot afternoon sun.

Our beach hut is set just of the beach in amongst a coconut grove, with a resident family of pigs running around keeping you on your toes. During one of the storms (yes it does rain) one of the trees snapped and landed on a shack 10 meters in front of us, Luckily no one was hurt.

Our house for 11 days

Chloe Writes: Apart from eating, drinking, swimming & shopping, there’s not a great deal else to do in Goa. It has been the ultimate chill out for both of us and we’ve managed to read 6 books between us.

We did manage to drag our-selves away from Palolem and hire a moped for a couple of days. We visited a couple of neighbouring beaches and one day headed up to the spice farm in central Goa. It was fascinating, I had no idea a banana tree only ever produces one bunch of bananas in it’s lifetime and a cashew fruit only produces one cashew nut…… well it is the only mental stimulation we’ve had for a couple of months apart from playing cards and domino’s.

One night 6 of us went to a very upmarket hotel for dinner. Pete and I spent a whole weeks budget on just one meal but the food was amazing. Unfortunately we are now on an even tighter budget for the next few weeks. It was worth it though.

Although we have had a spot-on 10 days we haven’t left ourselves much time to do Kerala so the next week is going to be a busy one.

    Hi Mum,

Unfortunatly the sinagogue was closed when we got there and we didnt have time to wait the 2 hours for it to open.

    Hi Helen,

Glad your enjoying the photos, sorry to hear about your car, there are far too many bored kids hanging around in Hanham.

    Enjoy the fire, it’s lush.

Hey hey! Once again some terrific photos.

And your starting to sound like real travellers! Doing a lot of sod-all! Good times. It makes me feel better about spending those days in the sun doing nothing when there was probably so many sights to see.. sod the sights, lets read another book ;o)

Loved the fish catching photos - locals in action, always a seller for me.
