Chang Mai

street food

Pete Writes: We arrived at Chang Mai early in the morning and the first thing I noticed was that the temperature was a lot cooler than in Bangkok (especially as I still had shorts and a t-shirt on). It is also a lot more laid back than the capital, so much so we only managed to shop and complete a cooking course :) Mum and Dad were still in Chang Mai after there trek (post wedding) and we spent a nice chilled 3 days with them. Eating, shopping and more eating!!

Completing a Thai cooking course was one of the major things we wanted to do on this trip, we managed to cram it in the day before we left. It started with a visit to the local market to pick up all of the ingredients and see all the food in its purist form (including pigs heads and tanks of fish). The course was really good, and the food was not bad either and hopefully between the two of us we should be able to cook up a feast :)

As our visa runs out tomorrow we are heading towards the Laos border later and onto our 5th country, back onto the backpacker circuit..

    Hi both
We have noticed that there are only one set of comments - has Pete delegated the typing to the lady of the house?
I see you had the same “cooking teacher” as we did - “put the ……. in the pan now!”
We also note that your hats were to keep off the sun - ours were to catch the rain!
    Mum & Dad xx

    Hi Mum & Dad,

Oops, small typing error, those comments were supposed to be Pete’s. I didn’t really feel the need to add anything.

It was a sunny day (unfortunatly not much like Loas so far), and the teacher was good.

    Lots of Love x

  3. Rupert Says:

Do you think you’ll actually remember how to cook the Thai Curry? I’d bloody forget…

  4. peteandchloe Says:

    Hi Rupert,

We have kept the recipies so fingers crossed we’ll be able to cook them again. The red curry is most definitley my favourite.

    Lots of Love,

    Chloe x
