Pete Chillin'

Pete Writes: Indonesia has been 3 weeks of Sun, sea, surf, snorkeling and chilling. We arrived in Jakarta straight into the thick of it and quickly came to the conclusion that we were due some well deserved relaxation. So we hot footed it towards the paradise island known as Bali. We found ourselves in a really nice apartment with a kitchen and outside bathroom (with loads of mozzies included in the price!) it was great to be able to have a cup of coffee in the morning and be slightly self sufficient. The real bonus for me however was the sea, HUGE WAVES! You can really see why Bali is one of the world’s best surf sights, with waves breaking 3 meters over your head it was a real buzz! I did not attempt to surf them although I had lots of fun on the body board :)

After spending 10 days by the beach we decided that it was time to move on to yet another beach! Gili Trawangan is 1 of 3 islands just off the coast of Lombok and after a 12 hour bus, boat, bus boat combo we finally set foot on its golden sands. It’s only 3 miles around the whole island, and with no cars or scooters it has a real laid back ambiance. I managed to get a couple more dives done whilst on the island which was great, especially when I had a 2 meter wide turtle swimming straight towards me :)

Chloe chillin

Chloe Writes: I’ve not a lot to add as the last 3 weeks have been spent relaxing on some of Indonesia’s beautiful beaches. A few days in Bali ended up as a couple of weeks (as usual), but we are on holiday after all :) Down-hill cycling in Bali was a lot of fun and involved being driven to the top of a volcano and spending the next 4 hours sat on a bike speeding down, a good laugh was had by all. We had to literally tear our selves away from Bali as we were very much settled in, to go to the Gili islands, and when we arrived we both wished we had done it sooner. The Gillis are paradise, and to top it off, we had 6 nights in a beautiful resort with our own little Asian style house and a lovely pool as a wedding present from my sister. We didn’t want to leave.

After 7 and a half months we are closing the book on Asia and are moving onto Australia in a few days. We are sad as it has been an amazing adventure but at the same time we are ready to move on.
