1. Where did I get the name for my Blog?
Well, I had been pondering for quite sometime over the name. I had many ideas, such as “Choose Your Own Adventure”. You know the books from the 80’s that allow the reader to determine the next course of action, such as, If you choose to take the spaceship to Planet Zatar, turn to page 20 or If you decide to turnaround, turn to page 42. Well needless to say that title did not work out (however it was a close 2nd). The final name came to me as I was listening to my IPOD on my way to the bus stop. I was listening to Tom Waits- “Lucinda” and a line from the song was ‘drink from the Ganges’. So there you have it!

2. Why do you want to travel ‘Round The  World’ (RTW)?
Since my late teens I have had a desire and passion to travel (I think either you have the desire to travel or you don’t). I’m the type of person that when I’m traveling, I’m thinking about the next place I would like to visit. It’s a chain of events- I land in a new destination and that new place inspires me and makes me want to visit another new destination. I then return from my trip and start planning my next trip. Ultimately, what has really made me want to go on a ‘RTW’ trip is -I just could not see enough of the world with only two and three week vacations.

3. How did I finance my trip?
First, I moved out of my apartment and moved in with my Grandfather and his Wife. Next, I sold my car and my furniture. After I sold my possessions (well the ones I could actually get money for), I acquired a second job. The second job really helped me in two ways, it helped me make extra money, but also prevented me from spending money, because I was too busy working to spend it and hangout with my friends.

4. Are you traveling alone and if so, are you afraid?
Yes, I am going alone.
I’m not afraid…I’m more afraid of living my life in one state/city and only hearing about the world that exist beyond my limited space.

5. What type of accommodations will you be staying in?
Given my trip is long and I am on a budget, I will be staying in hostels. However, I’m sure I will stay in a few Hotels throughout my trip.

6. Who planned the trip and what did it entail?
I planned my trip from start to finish. I researched and purchased the airline tickets, the country visa requirements, the accommodations, the weather, the culture, the monetary unit, the immunization requirements, etc. It has been a lengthy and sometimes frustrating process, but will be well worth it in the end!

7. Do you have everything planned out?
The only set detail is my ticket to South America and my ‘RTW’ ticket. I am set to depart on February 24, 2008 to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I fly out of Quito, Ecuador to Seattle on May 11, 2008. On May 14, 2008 I fly from Seattle to Rome, Italy. Other than the above given dates, I have no other set plans. I do have countries and cities I plan to visit (see itinerary), but no exact dates of arrival and how long I will be in the given country….That’s the beauty of traveling by yourself, no one else to consult with!
