Quick Update #3

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Well everybody, greetings from La Paz (I´ve always wanted to say that). After a great weekend with Felipe in Rio, headedback to Sao Paulo for a few days, had some good outings with the preservation/exploration groups, saw an old friend, and headed down the Southern coast to Buenos Aires. A couple days there, headed up north to Salta in Northern Argentina. From there, further north to Bolivia, and after a four days tour of the soutwest headed north to La Paz, where I am now. A couple days here, and it’ll be off to lake Titicaca, and from there to Cusco where I meet up with my brother to do the Inca trail.

After Berlin, headed to London. Steve had to bail back to New York early, so after some sightseeing and a couple of adventures in England, I headed to Paris. Some sightseeing and a couple (well, one minor) adventure there and I headed back to New York. One hellishly cold day later, I´m on the plane to Brazil. I get to Sao Paulo, AeroMexico tells me they´ve lost my luggage, and it immediatetly starts to rain nonstop.

This puts a small crimp in my plans to head around town with the preservation\exploration group there. I hang out with them a few days, see some of Sao Paulo, and give my friend Felipe a ring. I´ve e-mailed him twice but he hadn´t written back. Well, it turns out I had the old e-mail, and he (a med student) coincidently has a free weekend (plus Monday) and nothing to do but hang out with me.

So I jet to Rio, and here I am in the lap of luxury, in utterly gorgeous weather, in the most beautiful city on earth, and a week before Carnival which means there are street parties and samba concerts galore. Oh, and Aero Mexico lets me know they´ve found my luggage and I can pick it up when I head back to Sao Paulo on tuesday. Life could be worse.
