On the third day we got up pretty early and we went to the air port to catch a flight to Harvey Bay, we went to take 4×4 drive and camping gear. From there we went on a yacht that took us to Frazer Island, on the way we saw wheals and chilled out. We have arrived to the island and drove on our awaiting 4×4 to a camping area, Shane the tour director and other crew members have arranged a big and good dinner, we were sitting there under rain forest threes, I just realized that there is sand everywhere… maybe it is because we are on the biggest sand island in the world. Tents were set and we went to sleep we woke up by the sound of big water drops that fell of the tree leaves and weird noises from local birds that I am not familiar with. The smell of the big breakfast convinced me to come out of the tent, after breakfast we quickly packed up the camp and went in the cars navigating to a creek where The Real Race team was waiting for us for the next challenge, a biathlon running inland to where the creek starts and swim in it towards the beach, such a beautiful creek, it was so cool but hard and it was hard to catch our breath after it. After that we drove in a convoy to a shipwreck to take some photos.
Back into the cars to drive inland, we got to a picnic area filled with colorful birds and beautiful nature, we had picnic lunch and went to a lake near by, it is AMAZING, it is the most beautiful lake in the world!!!! O.K it is one of the top ten in the world and the most beautiful I ever seen in my entire life. It was a pity that we couldn’t stay there forever, the whitest and purest sand I ever seen and the water so clear and blue. Well we had to head back to the ferry to get of the island, dolphins escorted the ferry all the way it was unreal.
Got back to the mainland, we went straight to return the cars and went on a bus to a three hours trip to the sunshine coast, on the way we stopped for food and interviews with the camera crew. I was so tired, we got to the resort and the only thing I wanted to do was to get into bed and sleep.
A wake up call really early in the morning with a lead note –we are going surfing.
I hardly recovered from the day before and here I am in a wet suit. We got a group lesson from few really nice instructors that made the whole experience much easier for a novice like me. The challenge- stay as long as you can on the board and the wining team will be the one that stayed the longest time on the board or in other words- last man standing.
The instructors helped us and they pushed us with the waves, I managed to stand up but not long enough, the surfing board was too big for me to stabilize I think. Again, Yuval and me almost last. We got back to the hotel, I had a hot bath in the spa and we all had huge breakfast. A bus waited for us to take us to the air port- we are going to fly again, I have no clue where.
Alright, I have found out at the air port check in that our flight number is for a flight that will take us to Melbourne. I really don’t know what to expect now since the crew asked us to nominate which member of the team is the smart one and which one is not scarred easily and it cannot be the same person for both, out of 1-10 on my fear scale at the moment my fear level of what will come next is around 7. Between me and Yuval I am obviously not the smartest one, so although I am a big chicken our chances to win something will increase if Yuval will use his brain and not me, and while being a person that is scarred easily I’ll still be ready to attempt any challenge that will come my way.
Well, I need to catch up on some sleep so being on a flight now I am going to do so, I need to be alert when we land in Melbourne.

Day 2, Still in Sydney but i dont know where the day going to end

Got up very early in the morning, it is cold, and my body is aching….. What? Do we need to walk again? Yes, straight to the first ferry to Olympic Park, then straight hop on a bike and off we go. Yuval, studied the map of the Olympic park on the ferry, so we knew where to go, we found the Olympic stadium pretty quick, and to find Fatso the Wombat on one of the pole next to the stadium was easy too since one of the real race crew members was next to it to give us our next lead note. Nice place this park, it is so much fun riding here, and no stress since the rules were saying that we need to leave first since we finished last the day before.
Next destination a BMX track, what!!! I thought I might give it a go, but I saw someone from the other teams try to attempt it and we fell on the first go, so I figured since it is a one team member task Yuval should do it and not me. After Yuval’s first attempt he said it is very hard and tiring. On his second attempt he was half dead already, his third attempt ( the one that really counts- a real time trial) really took the best of it he was really exhausted, he finished the track within 60 second, rob and peter won this challenge, we came third. We got our next lead note which directed us to the Archery range, a short ride from the BMX time trial track. I missed the instruction on how to use the bow since I went to the rest room, and I was the nominated team member to do this challenge since Yuval was exhausted from the last challenge. Truly I was very good at this I even burst the balloon that was in the middle bull’s eye; however I burst it at the wrong time, which was after the point’s competition, so we came last in the points tally on this challenge. But it was fun, and I had a really good feeling about the whole day. We went on the bikes again and paddled to the train station parked the bikes and went on the train, after that we needed to catch a taxi to the Olympic white water rafting track- I didn’t see this coming!!!!!
Even at the beginning (although it was after long safety check, and very long and clear instructions) Yuval and I jumped into our canoe and lost control. How do you direct this thing? How do you go forward with it? How you not falling off? I don’t think white water rafting is our specialty. So, who will be the first team to go on the track? The teams have decided on paper, scissor, and stone tournament to make that decision, I lost so w had to get out there first. This is what people mean when they say ‘you have to jump into the cold water’ , we had to leave all our fears and worries on the dry surface and just do it, off we go. The instructors were really nice and they gave us a really good sense of security and “no worries” feeling. We’ve done well in the first part , I was at the front and I paddled really strong and hard, Yuval was at the back and he was screaming common!! Push it! Paddle, paddle! Harder! Faster! Even the instructor was impressed and then bam, we just toppled over. The water pulled us in, we tried to linger around some rocks and get close to the outside walls of the track but the stream was very powerful, eventually I notice that there is a rope behind me that I need to grab, I caught it but I could not move, the instructor looked at like he expect me to do something, but the water were so cold I couldn’t move. In this contest w came second or third I think. When finished we got our next challenge which is to get to Bondi Beach and build a sand pyramid. That was fun, but I think we have invested in it too much time and effort, since we were late to the bus that took us to the next point, we have arrived to the last pit stop for the day very late after the rest of the teams but the view from there was so special and cool, than they took us to the most famous fish and chips restaurant in Australia on Watson bay, and then back to the hotel, sleep time.

I never thought a trip could change my view on life- this is my first day

The beginning of the race was a bit weird, since we didn’t know what to expect and how competitive we suppose to be. So, we looked for the easiest and quickest way to the Opera House, we got their almost ... [Continue reading this entry]
