adventures and misadventures from Sandra

Many years ago, I lived and taught in Lima, Peru. Fortunately, it was a time of long school vacations and travel throughout Peru and Ecuador.

I was concerned about returning to Ecuador. Would I regret returning? It was a twenty-three day solo adventure in the Northern and Southern sierra highlands, cloud forest and amazon.

I did not regret returning. Quito is now immense yet revisiting most areas was deja vu to my trip years ago. It seemed as if the world stopped in Ecuador, in some ways. The beautiful people were still friendly. Women still wore their traditional hats, long skirts, embroidered blouses. It felt good to be in areas where no McDonalds existed. It was like going back in time.
