Was great to meet a fellow texan - ha ha ha - this from someone who had to explain that no in Texas, very few people have an English accent, and not being blonde didn't mean I wasn't American....sigh...Safe travels!! Seriously, you will love Yunnan. Very touristy (mostly from internal Chinese travellers) but it is absolutely gorgeous, from top to bottom. Most ethnically diverse of all of China. If you want a good trek, go for a three day walk down Tiger Leaping Gorge. Best dog I ever ate was in Kunming.
