Dude, I was sooo high

Yep. All the way up to 5200 meters. That is pretty high up there. I did make it to Nam Tso lake and it was very pretty. most of the day was spend in transit to and fro so I got to see more of the Tibetan country side. There is really not much out there. Nothing but yaks, rocks, and moss. The villagers collect yak dung and stack it in pyramids or make fences out of it. When it gets cold they just run outside and grab some more crap for the fire. It is hard to imagine living in the Tibetan countryside. It looks like a hard life.

The rest of my time in Tibet was spent visiting temples and monasterys. Many were very beautiful and all were active. I felt like such an intruder though. The only analogy I can think of would be a Japanese tourist taking pictures of mass at the Vatican. I missed my flight out and spent another afternoon in an airport. The Lhasa airport is significantly smaller than LAX and there was very little to keep me entertained. The plane itself was very nice though. They use brand new Airbus planes with fold down flat screen monitors for the safety demonstrations. Very fancy. That must be why the flight was so expensive.

Pictures will be following, but maybe not from this hostel.
