A pretty typical day
I could really get used to this life of leisure. Today we got up around 8:30 and headed out the door for breakfast. We had steamed dumplings and went to another cafe for a pot of coffee. It was noon before we actually got around to renting bicycles. Dali is close to some cloud covered mountains and a beautiful lake. We rode to this neat three pagado compound, but it was 121 quai to get in. That is almost $16. Ridiculous. So we rode to some neat looking buildings further up the hill. It turned out to be a temple compex associated with the pagados. Same ticket, same price. Instead we had a snack at the near by vegetarian restaurant. We rode around a little longer in search of more sights on the map. We found one, but it was closed for repairs so we headed back to the walled city and biked around. We turned the bikes in around 4:30 and turned in for our afternoon nap. It is now 6pm and we are headed out to do some shopping and get some dinner a little later. We met some cool local Chinese on the train and are going to grab some drinks with them later tonight. Not bad.
