24 Hours in LAX

Well, weather in Dallas was terrible and once it cleared up all of the flight crews were still in transit. American made a valiant effort shuffling me from gate to gate, but I didn’t get into LA until 1Am (3AM central) and my flight left at 1:40. I thougt for a while that I would be able to pull off another last minute flight grab. I ran to the Air China check in desk (two buildings away) and the desk was closed. I even convinced the nice people at TSA to let me through security without a bording pass and escort me to the gate in hopes that I could get there in time; I did have 6 whole minutes. That is a life time in some circumstances. As we were running to the gate though we passed the Air China crew walking away. The flight was gone and I was stranded. American wouldn’t put me up since the delay was for weather, but they did give me a discount voucher. Even then it was going to be $75. Well, I kept thinking about how far $75 will go in South East Asia and I slept on a bench instead. Terminal 3 bagage claim is the best if you ever find yourself in a similar situation. Turns out that Air China only has one flight out of LA a day……..so I spent the day wondering aimlessly about the airport and people watching. After a little bit of hassle I did finally make my flight to Beijing.
