It’s a wonderful night for eyebrows

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

The wallabies upset the all-blacks. I heard a few fights break out last night as I was trying to get to sleep. And apparently the Sydney opera house is being named a world heritage site (like the exhibition building here in Melbourne – which is the only remaining building from a world’s fair, or something like that).

I am not at the wildlife sanctuary. Tis okay. There are many, many wildlife parks around. Even if this one won lots of eco-tourism awards. And I’ve been in a zoo vet hospital before… I got a wallet today on sale. Its leather, but oh well. I couldn’t find another. I have to do laundry, pack, and try to read a couple of books so I’m not lugging them all to Sydney.

I went through my stuff last night and realized I’m not going to have enough time to wwoof anywhere else. Sad, but okay. Once I’m up in Cairns, I should start applying for jobs in Christchurch and see if I can find a good housing website. A girl in my room said I should try to apply for trip interruption from my insurance. I don’t think it’ll work, but I guess I can try.

Little Penguins!

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Ha – I was looking for a good penguin quote for the title, and came up with these:

“Penguins mate for life. That doesn’t surprise me much because they all look alike. It’s not like they’re going to meet a really new, great looking penguin someday.” (Of course, like many birds, the little penguins are socially monogamous and sexually promiscuous. And the divorce rate is about 17% per year. Just FYI.)

“Sure, the lion is king of the jungle, but airdrop him into Antarctica and he’s just a penguin’s bitch.”

“It’s practically impossible to look at a penguin and feel angry.”

And my personal favorite: “Ford, you’re turning into a penguin. Stop it.” – Douglas Adams [read on]

Or maybe parents. I point your attention to this article: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20043442,00.html which says that the Secret of NIMH, now out on DVD, is too dark and scary for kids. Please! It was my second favorite film as a kid (after Robin ... [Continue reading this entry]
