I've lost count of the times I've heard statements similar to the one above about where I'm from, and where I live now. Sometimes, if the standard "Yes, that's correct" response isn't readily accepted the initial query is followed up with a "So that's what happens when you've been out in the sun too long" comment. I suppose it's to be expected. Think about it: who in their right mind would trade in pink sand, sun, and surf for the harsh climatic extremes of the Western Canadian prairies? Me, that's who.
