Hi guys is the first time I check your website about my country, I am from Riobamba but I am also a citizen from the US residing in Syracuse NY.
Just wanted to say keep writting your experiences are much better than all those books that show different faces of the world.
Your face of the world is real.
Have a great 2007.
Sincerely
Raul

I too will be sad to see your blog end, as it has been really interesting to follow, and your photos are wonderful. What a fabulous adventure!

Michele and Mike, I'm not sure we can let you end your journey. I have been living vicariously through your adventure and am not yet ready for it to end. It has been such a fantastic voyage and I admire and envy you both for embarking upon it. And I am ever grateful for your sharing it with us all. I can't wait to welcome you home the next time I see you. The world is much as it was when you left but it will still be difficult for you to get back into real life. Welcome back.

I would definitely agree that you guys have done an awesome job with all of the postings that you guys have made. I mean to make a 135 postings in 365 + days (more than one every 3 days) is pretty impressive. It must be the same drive that fueled the ultra running.

Mike "still trying to catch up on the past postings" Wedemeyer.

Have fun in Quito.

It was great to hear about Guayaquil. I read a book a few years ago about a man who decided to move there in the 60s after being there for the Peace Corp. He bought some land and started a farm. He told of the people in the area and daily life. He wrote a lot about the lawlessness so to speak, thievery, betrayel and so forth as I am sure you can imagine. You will have to check out the book as I am sure you will like. It is called: The Farm on the River of Emeralds by Moritz Thomsen. Did you pass by the river when you were there?

How fast were you going when it derailed? I can imagine that would have been a bit disconcerting. Was it cold on top of the train? I see that some people are in short sleeves, but you guys look prepared for priddy chilly temperatures.

You guys have done a great job with this blog, and have given everyone many hours of reading and vicarious vacation time. Thanks for all the pictures and stories, and i hope the time you have left before returning here to the east coast is relaxing.

See you guys in a few weeks...
