The mystical story of Tim Hortons and the Blarney Stone
Well the story starts off at Tesco’s, one the grocery stores here in the UK and Ireland, last night while shopping for some dinner what did we see but a rack of Tim Horton’s donuts. Since it was late in the day and there were only a few left we decided it was best not to eat them but instead took a photo as proof that Tim Horton’s can be bought in Cork, Ireland. This morning we decided we wanted a taste of home so we ventured back to Tesco’s for some “fresh” TH donuts. Since they were on sale for 3 for the price of 2 we decided “why not get 3?” despite the fact that each one costs twice as much as they do in Canada (not including the exchange rate). They also didn’t really seem to have any flavours that we have at home, other than Boston Cream. So after the build up and dreams of TH donuts all night, the chocolate cream filled chocolate covered one was very stale, the Boston Cream was a bit fresher but somewhat tasteless dough and the cappucino one was freshest but also somewhat tasteless. So the lesson here is do not buy TH donuts in Ireland since they don’t do them justice. Now if we can only find somewhere that sells TH coffee!
Later fuelled by the TH donut sugar buzz we took a convertible* around Cork and out to Blarney Castle. We kissed the Blarney stone so hopefully now we get the “gift of the gab”. We also visited the Rock Close on the Blarney grounds to see the Witch’s rock and the wishing steps which Eero walked up with his eyes closed for his wish to come true.but he was also supposed to walk down as well, I guess his wish won’t come true. On the way back we took lots of goofy photos from the tour bus and had a good laugh (due to the sugar buzz) since we were the only ones on the top deck.
The End
