I am an Indie Traveler because…

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

I am an Indie Traveler because:

  • regardless of what places I visit, I always go there to learn something; whether it’s finding a new food or learning to deal with my own limitations
  • I discover interesting things about the places I visit and even about my hometown
  • I prefer to explore things at my own pace, with a guide I create from my own research; but that doesn’t mean a free walking tour is not appreciated from time to time
  • the more I travel, the less I like to stay home for too long
  • each time I plan a new vacation, I want to try different things, conquer new frontiers, go beyond my wildest dreams
  • I am trying to learn Greek for my next vacation!

My 2012 indie travel list

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

I have already made a point to write about my plans for 2012 so the Indie Travel Challenge from BootsnAll is exactly what I need to actually write about this. NOW!

2012 will be the year which brings to two countries I badly want to visit: Italy and Greece. I’ll be in Italy for a week in early March and then in Athens for another week. So far I’ve already pre-booked the hotel in Athens (at an excellent price, may I add?) and found something for Rome, as well.

I am hoping to get back to London this year and also visit Paris, at least for a few days.

Last year, 2011, I managed to get to London and back to Budapest. It was the busiest year travel-wise since…well, I exist! I’ve been on 8 trips, ranging from day trips to whole week abroad. Hopefully I can beat that number this year! :)
