Budapest vacation 2007; memories
This article has been previously published by me here.
I have visited Budapest for the first time in my life this August. Five young travelers from Romania -2 friends of mine from Bucharest, a friend of mine from Arad and my hubby -went to discover a very beautiful city. For us it was the best experience ever.
The best thing about Budapest is that you can stay at youth hostels for prices starting around $20-25. And even the hostels located downtown have the same low prices. Excellent for young travelers looking for a place to sleep.
Boomerang Hostel and Apartments is located right near St. Stephens Basilica and just a stone’s throw away from the Parliament and the Danube. Prices start at little over $23/person/night and depend on the season. It’s highly advisable to book the hostel online. Once such site to use -but not the only one - is Hostels.com. Don’t worry about not speaking Hungarian. The staff at the hostels always speak English.
It’s important to choose a downtown location because Budapest is a very big city and you will need to make some plans before you start walking the streets. Go to the Eastern Railway Station and at the Tourist Information center ask for a Budapest map (in English) and where to buy the Travelers Card (free pass for all public transportation for several days, depending on how long you plan to stay). If you learn to read the map -which is very easy - you won’t get lost and you’ll have a lot of fun checking the attractions on the map.
We have visited a lot of attractions and I plan to tell you ALL about it! Photos included!
