Budapest - some advice
My very first advice is to plan your money in advance. Everything is expensive near the historical places. A good idea is to either get a Budapest Card -discounts at restaurants, spas and free museum entrances , free public transport - or get a travel card but pay for the rest. Either way, it’s not cheap. Other important advice is to learn some Hungarian words. People speak English but not everywhere -for example not at the Zoo…but they do speak at major restaurants and in museums.
Avoid eating out..go to a supermarket -Tesco is a good idea - and buy the food. Cheaper!:)

Karina,
Budapest is not cheap at all but Szeged is! I got a lot of cheap and lovely clothes from Szeged (which is really close to the Romanian border).
In the capital everything is expensive but in other cities it’s much cheaper
