Hello

My quest for beer is now taking me to Africa. From Kilimanjaro to the Serengeti I will search, sample, analyze, sample, search, sample some more, and hopefully find beers that quench my thirst. A little bit about the trip. I will be meeting up with a rather large group of people (27) as part of this Boots-n-All sponsored trip. I leave on Christmas day and will be back home on January 10, 2006. The plan is to summit Kilimanjaro on New Year’s Day morning! The climb will be followed by a 4 day safari to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and other stops. Stay tuned as I prepare to embark on this adventure….

As one who has been there, beer is plentiful. I would recommend a wild game restaurant in Nairobi (name mistakes me at this time). It was US prices but the food was very good. We had Crocodile, Impala, Zebra and I believe Chicken. If you go to Club Florida keep hands and other things in pockets. As you climb remember to go slow (Pole, Pole) and not rush yourself. I added sugar and Iodine tablets in my water. I also brought some snickers with me for the final climb up the face of Kily. We also did the Safari and Crater which is awesome!! One thing we were told in 93 when we climbed is that if you get hurt you need to request new NEEDLES and you will pay extra for them. In 1993 the hospital at the airport was better then all the rest. Be safe and smart!!

I am going to Tanzania in January, we are doing the Lemoshe route and start on Jan 25th…my birthday!! We are doing a 7 day climb, we have two days free before we start our 8 day horse back safari…really looking forward to that…we will finish our trip on the islands…hope to find lots of great things on Pemba…we like the places less traveled…we avoid the touristy spots as much as possible, we will of course be going to Zanzibar to see spice town and do some diving… Thanks for the needles tip….nice to know…I will look forward to hearing about your trip…Happy New Year…I hope you are on the summit!!
