Two weeks in the sun.

This is our last foray back into the past. I'm going to miss the power to play with time, to drag you from past to future and back again like some bad b-grade movie, but I am glad to finally catch up.

Now that our Angkor adventure was over it was time to take a break, relax and recharge the batteries. Where better to do that than the beautiful Thai Islands?
One of the first things we (I) did when we arrived was drop Emily's camera, knocking the lens out of alignment and rendering it useless (hence the lack of pictures) but everyone knows what the beach paradise looks like, think palm trees, perfect white sands and sunsets. Breaking the camera turned out to be a blessing in disguise (true it was a bloody good disguise) - now we were free from the pressure of taking pictures and writing stories and for the first time on our trip felt like we were truly on holiday (as in not packing up every single day). We had a week on Ko Chang (Elephant Island) and a week on Ko Tao (Turtle Island). To cut a long story short, we lay on the beach, read books, relaxed in hammocks, rode and bathed elephants, snorkled with the fishies, rode motorbikes, drank cheap cocktails, passed the odd dooby and made a heap of friends. The sadness we felt in leaving was only matched by the shock we experienced getting off the plane at Heathrow in sandals to be greeted by the sub twenty degree english "summer", some old friends and a bad case of post holiday blues.
