February 03, 2005Stumbling with Pictures!
To begin, Shaunna is feeling better now. We're not sure exactly what was wrong, but she's eating well and getting around okay. As they say, it's not IF you get sick in Thailand, it's WHEN you get sick. I'm sure I'll be down for the count sooner or later. Oh yeah, my prostate is holding up, haha. So I am finally taking the time to load pictures of our trip so far. Sorry about the size of these... no way to edit them just yet... and we get charged for time on the computer. If need be, change your settings to fit your screen or download them and resize as needed. Leave us some comments and let us know what you think. Here are my new glasses: Here are pictures of my inflight meals (good vegetarian meal), sushi, and much-needed bloody mary: Here's Shaunna looking hot and sexy at the Chiang Mai airport (check out the orchids - Merrick, you would love the orchids here!): Here is our bungalow at Chiang Dao Nest 1 (notice the mountains in the background)...the last pictures are from the courtyard at the resort:
Here are pictures from the monastery... sorry if they come out sideways: Here are pictures from climbing Doi Chiang Dao.... Me and our guides, Chat and Rung... notice the backpacks: Here are some killer views during the climb...notice the mountains in the distance! Sharing some Beer Changs after the climb: Pictures from Chiang Dao Nest 2.... Check out the size of these freakin' geckos! Our bungalow: Pictures of the courtyard: The dining area: Thai Massage: Scenes from Chiang Mai... so far! View from our hotel room: Some familiar sites in Chiang Mai... you guys will love these: A typical city street in Chiang Mai: That's it for now! I took a lot of pictures that I haven't uploaded here. Once we get some more time, I will upload all of them on Shutterfly or another photo hosting site. I took a ton of pictures from our mountain climb, including all of our meals (I'm taking pictures of our good or interesting meals here) and more mountain views.

Sigh... such beautiful imagery. I'm kinda speechless actually. I love you 2 and look forward to more updates. :) Brotha J Posted by: Jordan on February 3, 2005 12:16 PMHey Jordo - we miss you too. I wish we could have hung out a little longer before we left. I look forward to having a beer with you when we return! Much love... hope things are going well! Posted by: Coy on February 3, 2005 12:46 PMLooks like all the pictures I've seen. Glad all is well and you are having a great time. Look forward to more updates. Posted by: MOM on February 3, 2005 01:24 PMnice shots. i'm feeling the picture of shaunna sitting on the mountain...smokin'! nice pic of you two having a beer with charlie. remember charlie doesn't surf! Posted by: smelly. on February 3, 2005 03:01 PMWow! Such beauty! okay, are the hiker guides always that happy? You guys have the biggest smiles sitting there having a brewski but they are just sitting there looking like someone just told them their mom died. the Starbucks pitcture made me LOL. There really is one on every corner. Thanks for posting.... they were a blast to look at. Posted by: robin on February 3, 2005 10:14 PMi just read the blog, front to back... sounds absolutely brilliant! the photos are wonderful, and of course your words are filled with wonderful imagery- I too know the challenges of being a stereotype destroyer from Texas... and i would suspect that you, of all people, can convert some outsiders preconcieved ideas of us Texans into positive thoughts... Even after the "re-election!" Keep conveying your experiences, because this vicarious life is lush. Thanks Coy! Posted by: rion king on February 3, 2005 10:42 PMwow, thanks for sharing these experiences with us guys...like others have said, i'm sure you will leave lasting impressions of positivity, wisdom, laughter, respect and grace wherever you go! keep it coming! Posted by: brandie trigger on February 4, 2005 12:07 AMwell done, you 2! glad to hear shaunna is feeling better 'cause it would be a shame not to be able to really max out the experience. thanks for taking time to share so we can all relax a bit while taking a virtual vacation from our cubes! the pics rocked and now i would like to go over there and sit on the mountain, shaunna style. where's the pic of the lovely forrest dweller ?
As a "photographer", I have to say the shot of Shaunna looking at the mountains is the money shot. You better blow that up to poster size and frame it. Hell, give us a copy too! And I CANNOT believe Star$$$ and McD's have infilitrated yet another country. I hated seeing that in Brasil. Posted by: Toya on February 4, 2005 02:08 AMThank you for taking the time to share your pics... it is so wonderful to see your sweet faces & the luscious reality of Thailand! Big big big lovins to you both!!! :* P.S. Maybe Brandie & I can treat yall to a good ol' Austin-style massage when yall get home! Sans rotten mayo, of course. Maybe we'll just use some pico??
