qUicK uPdATe...

We are in Bariloche in the Lake District of Argentina....we went to Chile for a few days after Bolivia and realised our remaining funds would soon run out if we stayed any longer which is a real shame as Santiago was amazing and super friendly....so we left our room above a strip bar and headed across the mighty Andes into Argentina....my head almost exploded at the top because i had a bad head cold and the pressure up high played with my brain until some bubbles in there disloged and the pain disappeared along with my tourist card after i gave my passport to the girl on the bus....it all worked out and she talked to the border guard and they let me off.....the pain was off and on for the next few days but glad to say i am now pain free...in the head anyway...Mendoza Argentina is super nice too and a lot cheaper than Chile, still managed to spend over our budget though, a really nice hotel room for 5 people with a kitchen and a Bath!!!!! Bed ridden with illness i made the most of the local wines and cable tv.....post illness included winery tour and bike ride....mucho punctures and walking but the riding was cool while it lasted especially the city part and it was back to courier riding for a bit there....wine tour was cool when we finally found the winery, did some sample tasting and bought a couple of bottles for further testing later....having a kitchen was the best thing and a supermarket accross the road enabled us to prepare roast beetroot and bluecheese gnocchi, plenty of pasta, stuffed peppers and of course finger foods and homemade pizza for the Seinfeld marathon on our last night....11 episodes back to back that was a rare treat!!!!! After Peru and Bolivia and pretty much everywhere we have been Argentina seems a lot more like home and it has a shopping mall too...not usually a priority but home comforts have been rare so i embraced a day at the Mall to round off our stay in Mendoza....we saw Sin City at the movies there and lived out the Mall dream in a Dawn of the dead/ Mall Rats/ selected scenes from Police Academy4-citizens on patrol vein despite my usual shopping style which is more in a kind of Clerks/Black Books/ selected scenes from Notting Hill kind of vein....you know; small, intimate shops as opposed to impersonal, chain type shopping malls full of zombies and security guards...yada,yada,yada......pictures to follow again.....tomorrow we snowboard/ski, day after we take one of the great railway journeys of the world across northern Patagonia to the Atlantic coast of Argentina...its cold and snowy here, nice!!!!!!
