Arrived In India

Arrived in India, after an uneventful flight!
We were in the air for New Year, but most people were asleep so we didn't get to celebrate it. But Camilla and I just turned on our little lights and cracked open our blue Vodka and sang auld lang syne :-)
I managed, though, to stay up during the whole flight... :-( just couldn't get comfortable...
But we got to Delhi, and were really excited!!
But then, when we had our bags and had exchanged our money for Rupees... we stepped outside the airport and were mobbed by about 50 guys trying to get us in their taxis!!
Most people just came over and stared at us, and because we were the only women there... it was really disconcerting and scary :-(
One guy told us he'd take us to the New Delhi Station for 200rs, which sounded good, but then when he tried to get us to his taxi, he lead us past all the offical ones... and way past the airport... so we told him to forget it and walked back.
Gah - It was so scary!

Then when we finally got into a taxi, the driver and some guy had a huge fight about who would drive us.. and the other guy was like punching the driver in the head! Very Scary indeed.
We finally made it to the Train Station though, and managed to find our way to the platform.
It was so cool, because there were loads of monkies at the station!! Just hanging and jumping around!! And also just cows everywhere...on the roads and sidewalk!! very weird :-)
Our Train Journey down to Mumbai was LONG. about 16-17 hours in total... and I managed to sleep about half an hour tops!
Needless to say I was completely shattered by the time we reached Mumbai.

Mumbai is excellent though!!
I really love it!
It's sooo vibrant and full of character...
I much prefer it here to Delhi.
We met our friend coming off the train and we've been staying with her so far. It's so fun.
We've been shopping (and being from Scotland, I'm completely overwhelmed by the cheapness of everything) and went for LOVELY fruit juice at "Leopolds" which is a popular backpacker hang out!
We went for chocolate fondue one night too - it was so fun.
We have multiple pictures of us all covered in chocolate.

Well it's really quite late here and my body clock is really messed up.. so I'd better log off here and try to get some sleep (the past 2 nights have been sleepless for me... :-(

Anywho, more updates soon
love, k.xx
