Day 7 Dienstag Berlin

Hello everyone from beautiful Berlin, home of Prussian Germany and the heart of German culture, politics, and history. Today was a kick ass day. I slept late and linked up with two Chinese students from Hong Kong who spoke really good English. We ventured throughout Berlin from the Hauptbahnhof (train station) main drag to the famous dividing line of east and west. It was quite a sight, although the only thing that brings it down is the constant construction that is happening all over Berlin (its actually 2nd in the world to Shanghai.) As Andrew, Bernice, and I hopped off the main bus and walked up the Unter den Linden street, we were struck with awe. This city is stocked full of history, and simply passing through the Brandenburg Gate and walking past the many museums and the infamous Reichstag (which Hitler supposedly almost burned down in an attempt to gain power and blame the Communists) is a real pleasure. Although, everything in my opinion still to this day pales in comparison to Rome. And after making our way past the Unter den Linden we went to Checkpoint Charlie, which was the highlight of the day. I was extremely impressed with the museum and was moved at how dark and menacing the Soviets really were. (moved- I am not quite sure if that fits the subject, hmmm) Well, Im actually on my way to travel the rest of East Berlin by bus tonight and then call it a night. This way Ill feel confident in checking out West Berlins suprisingly small selection of sights. Perhaps Ill just wind up going to the concentration camp 60 miles outside Berlin, who knows what the day will tell. Perhaps I might even wake up yearning to head East again and lose a bunch of money (LOL :D)

Regardless, I had a great time today and am a little sad to have to say goodbye to the Chinese siblings Andrew and Bernice, whom were really cool and I had a great time with today. Aha, here I go again ranting in my torrent of Jimmy speak. You see this is the beauty of travelling alone, no attachments. Im like Yoda or something. I usually have no emotion at all when traveling, except maybe happiness and curiosity. I eat only simple meals and stay at simple, cheap clean hostels. Thats what its all about people. Simplicity. Minimalism. All I have and need is in my bag. Its an art really. Vagabonding is.

Peace peeps and bis bald,

Jimmy

Oh and P.S. Yayahhhhhhhh!!!!

i bet you can even feel the lingering prescence in those concentration camps, that and the beaches that our troops died on in WWII would be the first and most emotional for me to visit. let me know.
