Arrival in Seattle

A long day spent travelling. Leeds - London, London - Chicago, Chicago - Seattle. After having picked up our wheels at Seatac airport (a Ford Freestar minivan) we arrived at our Motel just south of Seattle at around six thirty in the evening some 21 hours after leaving home that morning.

The weather was fine and warm and the kids wanted to swim, so the
kids swam while we adults (my wife and I plus her parents) sat
watching them and looked to the distance to the amazing view of
Mount Rainier some 50 miles away as the crow flies looking
impossibly large and unreal somehow as the snow covered glaciers on
the mountains peak glowed pink in the setting sun.

Mount Rainier is not pronounced 'rainy - ayy' locally as we had
assumed, but more like 'ray - near' this provoked a mildly
amusing/embarrassing conversation while I was buying provisions for
the next day when I was asked if I was road tripping to 'Ray - near'
and replied "no we are going to Mount 'Rainy - ayy' " before I
realised what I'd been asked.

Tired but pleased to be there we all crashed out for the night.
