About the blog:
Our plan is to write for our friends and family so that they can live vicariously through us as they slog away at the daily grind. We also hope that some of our entries will be informative or interesting for travelers who are researching their upcoming trips.

About us:
Pearse is originally from Cork, Ireland and Amie is from Portland, Oregon. We met in New York City during the World Cup in 1994. 10 years later we find ourselves living in Portland, married, with a mortgage, two cars and a dog, but we are still passionate about NYC, Ireland, and travel. Pearse has done the long-term travel thing before - to the Middle East and Australia. Amie spent a month behind the Iron Curtain (back when there was such a thing) and together we spent 6 weeks in West Africa. We travel every year for 2 or 3 weeks but feel now is the time to do a long trip.

About the trip:
We've finagled leaves of absence from our employers and found a couple to stay at the house and take care of the dog (thanks Jodie & Mike!). We have plane tickets into Bangkok and out of Bali and 165 days in between to spend any which way we want. We're trying not to make plans, but chances are we'll be traveling through parts of Cambodia, Laos, the southern Thai islands, the Malaysian peninsula, Borneo (Malay and Indonesian parts), and hopefully a few islands in Indonesia.
