3-7 Birthday Girl at Hacchimangu Temple

View image
Dee and I spent the morning on her last day touring around downtown Kamakura. We wandered around Tsurugaoka Hacchimangu Temple which is a large area, beautifully maintained and located a few blocks from the Kamakura JR train station. We visited on a Monday morning and the temple was still very crowded. This little girl in kimono and full makeup is celebrating her birthday. When a little girl turns age 3 or age 7, the Japanese celebrate with a visit to a shrine/temple.
