It's Official--I'm Coming Home!

I've just received re-confirmation from AirTreks that I'm on a flight home from London to New York on Friday, May 27th. Shit, that is insanely soon! I have less than a week left in Thailand, then I'll have about 9 days in London before this journey comes to an end.

I've been keeping you all in the dark about the rest of my plans, but I suppose there's no time like the present to spill the beans! I'm going to spend about a month on the East coast visiting friends and family, then I'll be making my way back to California, either driving or flying--that's yet to be determined. Then...

I'll be making a new home for myself in...Los Angeles! Yep, that's right. Not exactly what anyone might've expected, but I've decided to go see what it's like to actually live in the same city as my boyfriend, Mitch. I've heard more than enough terrible opinions about LA, but I've also seen some parts for myself that I really like, and am looking forward to the continued adventure of getting to know a new city! I miss SF, I really do, and part of me wishes I was moving back, but I'm also ready for a change.

The other change is to not go back to work in an office, but try to make it on my own as a freelance editor and writer. So all my publishing friends, keep me in mind for jobs, and I'll be contacting you soon!

I'm spending the bulk of the rest of my time in Thailand on a beach on the island of Ko Chang, relaxing, reading, writing, and processing this whole adventure. Seems like I've taken very little time just to consider what this has all meant to me, and where I want to go from here.

Chiang Mai was great--I took a fantastic cooking class (thanks Amy and Mel for the recommendation for Thai Chocolate!), steered a bamboo raft, and rode on an elephant, but then I started to get lazy and was just shopping, hanging out in cafes, and eating lots of Mexican(!) food, so I figured I might as well head to the beach! I've got a view of the ocean from the computer--can't complain about that!

Oh, and all of the Lao pictures are up. Enjoy! Chiang Mai will be up next week when I get back to Bangkok, where the Internet is way cheaper. I'm off to the beach...

Yay, you're coming home! Maybe not to exactly the right part of California (ahem), but at least you'll be in the same time zone. Have a great time in London...go to the Tate Modern and the National Portrait Gallery if you can.

Um...I think you might still be having technical problems. But at least you have lots of (identical) comments now also!
